Flore Arts Events
Flore Arts Events is an informal organisation run by a volunteer group of Flore residents with a common interest in promoting the arts. We have hosted a range of musical events from early music to jazz – not to mention poetry evenings and a silent movie night. Proceeds from the events go to charitable causes.
We have now donated more than £20,000 to local charities.
WE ARE SORRY TO INFORM YOU THAT ALL
FLORE ART EVENTS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS.
OUR NEXT EVENTS
After another successful and varied year in 2019 the Flore Arts Events 2020 programme kicks off in April with a return visit from…
BEN HOLDER JAZZ TRIO
Once the applause from the Flore Boards production has died down we’ll be getting ready for the first of the year’s musical offerings. If you came to Ben Holder’s Flore gig in 2018 you’ll know what to expect: we’ll be in for a sparkling evening of wild playing from a jazz fiddler extraordinaire. “An experience you won’t forget” (The Jazzman) and “Get your feet tapping and your jaw dropping at the speed of his fingers” (Jazz on Tap) are just two of the great reviews you can find for this energetic group.
Ben’s Trio will again be completed by wonderful support from Jez Cook on guitar and Paul Jefferies on double bass. This will be a truly unforgettable evening!
Millennium Hall: Saturday 25th April; 7.30pm. Doors open 7pm. Licensed bar. Tickets £12.50 (£5 under 18s) - call Rosemary Read (between 9am and 8pm) on 01327 341026.
MORE 2020 DIARY DATES
We have pretty much linked the rest of the year's events for your calendar including another return visit from artists who have entertained us previously. Watch out for more news on:
June 28th, 2pm: Jazz in the Garden: new year, old favourite, new line-up; New Orleans Heat will be headlining. Again generously hosted at Rock Springs in Sutton St.
July 11th, 3pm: outdoor theatre comes to Flore, courtesy of Illyria. Illyria, an award-winning open air theatre company, will be performing “The Further Adventures of Dr Dolittle” in what promises to be an afternoon of lively, high quality, family entertainment. The owners of The Grange in Flore High St have very kindly agreed to host this event.
November 14th, 7.30pm, All Saints Church: Budapest Café Orchestra: more traditional folk and gypsy-flavoured music with an exotic twist.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for updates on our website at and our Facebook page. We’ll also be providing more information in future editions of the Messenger. We hope to see you soon!
