Open Gardens

Contact via NGS website

Flore Open Gardens have been running since 1963 as part of the Flore Flower Festival and the partnership with the NGS started in 1992.  We have a varied mix of gardens, developed by friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming owners. Our gardens range from the traditional to the eccentric providing year-round interest. There are greenhouses, gazebos and summerhouses. There is seating provided to allow visitors to rest while enjoying the gardens.

The gardens include formal and informal designs with lots of roses, clematis and many varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, herbs, fruit and some vegetables.

Richard Floyer Trust

Christine Littlewood - 01327-340918

chrislittlewood@hotmail.co.uk

The key objective is to establish a fund which will provide financial support to selected activities and projects that have a positive impact on the village communities. These activities and projects may be aimed at all age groups or at specific sectors of the community such as the elderly, youth or children. They may have recreational, educational or entertainment focuses as long as they implicitly support the beliefs underpinning Christianity.

Commonwealth Flag Project and Commonwealth Disaster Relief Scheme

Johnnie Amos - 01327-349080

yeolbakery@aol.com

The Flore Commonwealth Flag Project was started in 2005 to celebrate the Late Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012. The inspiration behind the idea was to highlight the Late Queen’s work and unwavering love for the Commonwealth. Further research showed that the Commonwealth flags were not flown in the UK since the closure of the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington London (1996), Therefore it seemed a perfect & unique idea for our village, and so the Commonwealth Flags Project took on the task. The Work of today's Commonwealth and that of the Overseas Territories have 2.5 billion members, 70 per cent under the age of 25. Therefore we hope the Commonwealth flags and information on our notice board will give a splash of colour and be of interest to the community. Can you name which Commonwealth flag is flying when you pass by? Everyday is a school day!
